CROWLEY, Texas, Dec. 3, 2009 – TexasCampgrounds.com not only helps consumers find and book reservations at campgrounds and RV parks throughout Texas.
It also provides a calendar of fun things to see and do and links to websites of campgrounds and RV parks, which often offer their own slate of activities and special events.
“We’d like people to think of TexasCampgrounds.com as their one-stop planning tool for things to see and do throughout Texas,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director and CEO of the Texas Association of Campground Owners, which operates the site.
December alone offers numerous holiday activities, which are referenced on the website’s calendar, including:

  • Abilene’s 19th Annual Christmas Lane: The Dec. 3rd – 24th event includes lighted outdoor displays and an indoor display with animated dolls and figures at Abilene State School.
  • Beaumont’s Christmas Holiday Festival: The Dec. 2nd to 6th event includes public ice skating, arts and crafts for kids, live music and historical home tours.
  • A Nutcracker performance in Lubbock with more than 150 dancers, including world-class guest artists and students of the Ballet Lubbock School who perform with a live orchestra.
  • Magnolia’s Hometown Christmas: The Dec. 10th to 13th event includes an ice skating rink, train rides, caroling, live entertainment, vendors and food.
  • Yorktown’s Country Opry: The Dec. 22nd event at Aunt Di’s Country Restaurant features live entertainment and music.

TexasCampgrounds.com includes links to many of these special events, as well as website addresses of campgrounds and RV parks, which often have their own slate of holiday activities. For example:

  • Fun N Sun RV Resort in San Benito is planning a Christmas lighting contest from Dec. 15th to 31st with a Christmas Eve Pageant and Christmas Day dinner as well as an elegant New Year’s dinner and dance.
  • Rayford Crossing RV Resort in Spring is having a Hollywood themed New Year’s Eve party.
  • Whispering Pines RV & Cabin Resort in Tyler is offering New Year’s Weekend dance lessons, a New Year’s Day brunch, games and crafts.
  • Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Waller is having a potluck dinner on Christmas day as well as caroling on hay rides, while its New Year’s weekend festivities include another potluck dinner, a Big Apple Countdown at Midnight with party hats, noise makers and music as well as prizes for the best resolution and karaoke singer.
