It Happens..

April 26, 2010 Trackback RV Industry by Sean Edit

Our lead sales associate, Jean Strickland, has recently been staying at Bay View Harbor RV in Baytown, TX. Last year, they purchased a half page advertisement in the RV Travel & Camping Guide but only received ¼ page ad. While no one likes to make mistakes, the fact is we are all human and something like this will (very rarely) occur. Jean was very sincere with our apologies and hoped the advertiser would renew.

Now, this case could have gone two ways with the client either refusing to purchase an ad for fear of the same mistake, or just because they were unhappy with the service, or we could have turned a negative into a positive. After some conversation about their German Heritage, the owner opened up and became very friendly! He knew we didn’t purposely reduce his ad size and wanted to be in the guide again. Ultimately the two decided that the best way to handle the situation was to discount his ad price for this year where he took the same ad price and was assured he would get the half page he desired. The gentleman was so pleased he walked Jean back to her vehicle and saw that she made it back safe.

The point is mistakes will happen. The fact that one was made is often not the point, it’s how you make up for it.
